Parcel tax coverage: city limits vs. school district boundaries

Redwood City limits do not match those of the Redwood City School District. The map below should help you navigate the differences.

In short: RCSD covers parts of Redwood City while also reaching into nearby areas like parts of Atherton, parts of Menlo Park, portions of unincorporated North Fair Oaks, and small unincorporated areas near Woodside. Conversely, Redwood Shores is part of the City of Redwood City but is served by a separate School District: the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District. Which means it is not part of RCSD.

If you own any property in any part of RCSD - even if not in Redwood City - the parcel tax applies. After all, RCSD is providing schooling and education to all residents of that area.

If you live nearby Redwood City, you may be part of RCSD without knowing it! Use the interactive map to check a specific address and compare city and district boundaries.

Enter an address to see if it is inside Redwood City, RCSD, or both.
